Eligibility Requirements for OSU-COM's 3+1 Program

Program Pre-Qualifications

Who can apply?
- OSU-Stillwater juniors.
- Enrolled as a full-time OSU student with no more than (4) four semesters at the time of application (excluding concurrent/AP credit).
- 3.5 Overall GPA.
- 3.5 Science GPA.
- Enrolled full-time at OSU-Stillwater in approved 3+1 Program major.
- Must complete at least 60 hours at OSU before medical school matriculation (program entry).

Is medical experience required?
Yes.
- You must complete 500 hours in a health-related setting before you apply for the 3+1 Program (early in the fall of your junior year).
- Please plan accordingly!
What is considered "health-related" experience?
Healthcare experience is defined by OSU-COM as:
- Both paid and unpaid work in health-related fields where you are not directly responsible for a patient’s care but may still have patient interaction
- E.g. filling prescriptions, performing clerical work, delivering patient food, cleaning patients and/or their rooms, administering food or medication, taking vitals or other record keeping information, working as a scribe, CNA (depending on job description), medical assistant, etc.

Characteristics of Successful Applicants

Students highly motivated and committed to pursuing a career in osteopathic medicine as demonstrated by over 500 hours of health-related experiences by their junior year of college.

Academically high-achieving OSU students, as demonstrated through overall and science GPA's and AP/IB/concurrent credits (if applicable).

Able to demonstrate effective communication and leadership skills, possess emotional maturity and other non-technical skills reflecting the knowledge and aptitude necessary for successful practice of osteopathic medicine.
