Pre-NursingResearching Professional Schools

There are a variety of factors that go into choosing which nursing level and programs to apply to. It is essential to select schools that are more than just a good fit academically, but are also a good overall fit for your values, skills, and interests which will help you to become the future provider you desire to be. Spend time researching schools online and create a spreadsheet that tracks the factors most important to you.

Things to Know

  • Nursing encompasses many different levels of education and professional roles, including Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Graduates of both Associate (ADN) and Bachelor (BSN) nursing programs are eligible to sit for the same examination to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • A BSN typically results in more opportunities for advancement, is more desirable to healthcare facilities, and is required to get into an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) program.
