C.O.R.D. Requirements
Pre-Law Track
- Achieve a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0.
- Complete at least 100 hours of Field Related Community Service & Advocacy.
- Connect with OSU's Pre-Professional Office at least twice as an undergraduate student.
- Accumulate at least 100 points across the Pre-Professional Categories:
What is Field Related Community Service & Advocacy
Active unpaid volunteer experiences within your community or active participation with local, state, national, or international legal organizations. You may, but do not have to, complete 100 hours with the same entity.
- Community Engagement
Active volunteer engagement based on self-reflection to broaden your:
- Understanding of needs and challenges within communities you wish to serve as a future legal professional.
- Exposure to lived experiences different from your own upbringing.
- Knowledge of resources or where there are gaps in services.
- Insight into underlying issues with current structures and systems relevant to areas you're considering as part of your legal practice.
- Law Related Community Access, Equity, & Promotion
Active volunteer focused on the enhancement of access to legal services, in ways such as:
- Improve access: lessen community barriers.
- Improve equity: community education (resources, rights, access, etc.)
- Improve promotion: promote publicly available legal-related services (Oklahoma/local region/underserved/rural areas highly recommended).
- Law Related Community Advocacy
Active volunteer within a law related industry, association, organization, agency (non-profit/public/private) to support community-based policy reform, advocacy campaigns, community organizing or needs/cause(s) at a local/state/national/international level.
Pre-Professional Categories
Earn at least 100 total points & include at least one activity from each category.
Profession Exposure
- Explore Opportunities
Learn about your profession through membership in an on-campus or community group or through reading recommended literature from the Pre-Professional Library.
Profession Experience
- Explore Opportunities
- Prepare your resume or visit with a Career Coach to prepare for future networking opportunities.
- Participate in workshops, seminars, shadow, or work/intern in a related field.
Competency & Skill Development
- Explore Opportunities
Pursue growth opportunities in
